Agriculture is a goldmine, yet untapped in Nigeria.
As Youth, who believe that white collar jobs are not the solution to the economic instability bedevilling this nation, we need to channel our creativity towards exploring this untapped goldmine. Agriculture, as a sector, can employ millions of Youth and get the teeming Youth gainfully engaged.
The theme of this year’s International Youth Day (IYD), “TRANSFORMING FOOD SYSTEMS – Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health”, encourages us to creatively transform Agriculture and Food Production without causing damage to the ecosystem.
The onus of protecting our ecosystem, and promoting green environment, lies on us – the Youth. We are in the age of innovations and creativity and these are championed by the Youth across the globe. We are encouraged to creatively fashion the best ways to make Agriculture, cum food production, enticing and ecosystem-friendly.
As the Leaders of today, let us not wait to be employed in white collar jobs which will not give us sufficient financial strength to delve into politics and vie for elective positions; let us imbibe the entrepreneurial spirit and zeal, so as to excel as Employers of labour and garner all the necessary financial strength needed to take charge of the political terrain of this nation.
Compatriots, let us strive to make the world a better place, as we celebrate our resilience.
Happy International Youth Day!
